Why Sewon High School Dug Up the Ground and Waterproofed—A Relentless Commitment to Safe Water

BLOS로 5성급 호텔의 비용 절감과 품질 향상을 한번에 달성!

[Installation Update] Why Sewon High School Dug Up the Ground—and Even Re-Did Waterproofing: An Uncompromising Commitment to Truly Safe Water

Sewon High School in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, has adopted BLOS (Building Oasis), an intelligent water quality improvement system, to provide students and staff with exceptionally clear and safe water. This project goes beyond a simple facility upgrade—it reflects the school’s proactive administration aimed at reshaping perceptions of tap water and setting a new standard for future-ready educational environments.

A Prevention-First Shift: Why Improve Water Quality Now?

Sewon High School recognized that periodic, scheduled water testing alone cannot fully prevent risks such as incoming debris, unexpected piping incidents, or contamination introduced along the supply route. Even if water leaves the treatment plant in good condition, various variables can occur on the way to the campus—such as the intrusion of insects (e.g., non-biting midges), rust-colored water, and foreign matter. To proactively control these risks, the school chose an active, prevention-based improvement system.

BLOS not only blocks external contaminants at the point of entry through its filtration stage, but also provides real-time water quality monitoring—enabling immediate response when abnormalities or equipment issues are detected.

Chemical-Free by Design: Eco-Friendly Plumbing Management for Students

At the core of Sewon High School’s BLOS system is a zero-chemical approach. The school’s priority was clear: students with developing immune systems should not be exposed to harsh chemical additives in the water they drink and use every day.

BLOS suppresses rust and scale buildup inside pipes and helps prevent biofilm formation through an eco-friendly ion-based disinfection technology powered by electricity. This fundamentally reduces the risk of secondary contamination within a building’s internal plumbing—without separate chemical treatment—and helps maintain high water quality all the way until the moment it reaches each faucet.

📸 A Meticulous Installation Process That Addressed Even Hidden Risks

This project was carried out under a systematic plan starting in late October 2025. GeoGrid’s specialized expertise was applied across the full scope—from underground excavation work to install the ionizer on the main water pipe near the front gate, to modifying the rooftop piping structure of the cafeteria building.

During construction, a persistent rooftop plant-room issue—standing water accumulation—was identified and resolved through additional floor finishing (re-leveling) work. Afterward, triple-layer epoxy waterproofing was applied, along with thermal insulation to prevent freeze damage, fundamentally improving the school’s infrastructure so the system can operate in optimal condition throughout all four seasons.

🖥️ A Data-Driven School Sharing the Value of Water Quality

After installation, the digital information kiosk installed in Sewon High School’s hallway (the BLOS-Care screen) transparently displays the status of purified water to students in real time.

Students can see scientific indicators—such as turbidity and residual chlorine—every day, building deeper trust in their school’s tap water. The display also serves as a hands-on environmental learning space by reducing unnecessary use of plastic bottled water, while giving students a sense of pride that their school has adopted advanced technology to protect their health.
