GeoGrid, a building water purification plant startup, has successfully raised a ₩600 million (approx. $450,000 USD) seed investment from impact investment firms Sopoong Ventures and D3 Jubilee Partners.

Founded in November 2020, GeoGrid spent two years on research and development before beginning installation and operation of building-level water purification systems in aging apartment complexes and school cafeterias in 2023.
Notably, the company successfully resolved the chronic rust contamination issues in a 47-year-old apartment complex, earning official water quality certification from a nationally accredited testing agency.

Once installed, GeoGrid’s system purifies incoming tap water and provides real-time water quality analysis, enabling visualization of pipe cleanliness and condition through data.
Its analytics also help predict and prevent the formation of bacteria, heavy metals, and rust.
The system applies a natural corrosion inhibition technology — not dependent on chemical additives — that gradually removes existing rust while preventing new corrosion.
This innovation has also obtained U.S. NSF certification for safety and performance.

With this new investment, GeoGrid plans to accelerate product enhancement and expand its domestic and global sales efforts, leveraging its proven technological expertise.
The company expects to complete its first installation in the hotel and resort sector — where water quality is crucial — in the first half of this year.

Choi Kyung-hee, Partner at Sopoong Ventures, who led the seed round, commented:

“After hearing about the high satisfaction among residents of apartments equipped with GeoGrid’s systems, we became confident that this innovation can revolutionize water management in buildings.
GeoGrid’s solution purifies and manages an entire building’s water supply using only the electricity needed for a single purifier — a major step toward sustainability.”

Kim Ki-hyun, CEO of GeoGrid, added:

“GeoGrid will become an essential facility for building water management, improving quality of life and protecting the environment with minimal energy and cost.”
